I was for ten years the Professor in the Culture of Photography at the University of Brighton, on the south coast of  England.

I have worked for lots of photographic businesses. I was for many years the photography critic of the Financial Times and for a number of other outlets before that. I was also at one time head of the photographs department at Sotheby’s. I have worked for big stock libraries and several galleries, too.
